How to Turn a Long Video into Instagram Reels

To turn a long video into Reels, record it with clip-sized moments in mind, then cut out short, self-contained segments that make sense on their own. In InstaLoad you upload one MP4 or MOV, the AI transcribes it, picks vertical clips and burns in captions for you to review.

01

Plan a long video so it gives you good clips

A long video yields the best clips when you plan for them. Before you record a talk, a class, an interview or a demo, decide the three to five questions it answers. Each answer can become a clip.

Speak in complete thoughts. State the question, answer it, and move on. Clear audio matters more than fancy video, so record in a quiet room and keep the microphone close.

Say the important idea in the first sentence of each section instead of building up slowly. A clip that starts with the point is easier to follow when it is cut out of the middle of a video.

If you already have a long video recorded, you can still use it. Watch it once and note the moments that stand alone, so you can judge the clips the AI suggests.

02

What makes a clip work

InstaLoad suggests clips, but you are the one who knows your audience. Review each clip and keep only the ones you would be proud to publish.

Length is a judgement call. A clip should be as long as its idea and no longer. Before you publish, watch each rendered clip from start to finish, checking the opening line, the ending and every caption.

  • It makes sense alone. Someone who has never seen the full video should understand it.
  • It starts with the point, not with a greeting or a pause.
  • It has one idea and ends when the idea ends.
  • The speaker is clearly heard and the words are easy to follow.
  • It gives the viewer something: a tip, an answer, a story or a reason to visit.

03

How InstaLoad chooses and renders clips

Reels are included in every plan. You upload an MP4 or MOV file of up to 50 MB and up to 30 minutes. The AI transcribes what was said and picks short vertical clips from the transcript.

  1. Upload your video (MP4 or MOV).
  2. The AI transcribes it and proposes clips.
  3. Choose the clips you want and a caption style.
  4. Optionally add an AI voice-over or background music from the music library.
  5. InstaLoad renders each clip and you can review it before you publish or schedule.

04

Captions and optional voice

Captions are burned into each clip. You can choose from 6 styles: classic, bold, boxed, karaoke, word by word and minimal. If the AI misspells a name or a word, you can correct it. Each Reel allows 2 updates for free, and a glossary protects your brand names.

You can also add an AI voice-over from 18 voices in English and Brazilian Portuguese, including translated voice-over, and mute the original sound if you want. AI voices are labelled as AI in the app, and you are responsible for telling your audience where rules require it.

For music, pick a track from the music library (you can hear a 20-second preview first). The music automatically gets quieter under the voice.

05

Credits and plans

Reels and Professional posts use credits. Each Reel clip costs 10 credits, plus 5 more if you add a voice-over. Every plan includes monthly credits: Starter 50 (1 Instagram account), Pro 100 (3 accounts) and Business 400 (5 accounts). If a Reel fails to render, it costs nothing.

Plan your credits before a big upload. Three clips with a voice-over cost 45 credits, and three clips without one cost 30.

Posts and carousels are in every plan and use no credits. The plan renews until cancelled, and you can cancel any time.

Questions

How long can my source video be?

InstaLoad accepts an MP4 or MOV file up to 50 MB and up to 30 minutes. If your video is longer or larger, trim it first.

How many credits does a Reel cost?

Each clip costs 10 credits, plus 5 more if you add an AI voice-over. Every plan includes monthly credits: 50 on Starter, 100 on Pro and 400 on Business.

Yes. You choose how many clips to ask for, and the AI picks them from your video. You review each finished Reel, and nothing is published until you publish or schedule it.

What if the captions have a wrong name?

You can correct wrong names or words. Each Reel allows 2 updates for free, and if an AI voice has to say a corrected line again, it costs 2 credits.
